Khamzat Chimaev and Dillon Danis sparked an all-out brawl at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis on Saturday, June 13, 2026, moments after their freestyle wrestling match at RAF 10 concluded.

The chaos erupted after Chimaev secured a rapid pinfall victory in the opening round, putting a violent cap on a main event that had been simmering with tension all week. Security personnel and team members from both camps flooded the mats to separate the athletes as the sanctioned competition devolved into a melee.

The altercation began when Dillon Danis gripped the leg of Khamzat Chimaev shortly after the referee had signaled the end of the match. Chimaev, a former UFC middleweight title challenger, responded by kicking Danis while the American was still on the mat.

This exchange served as the immediate trigger for a massive confrontation that saw both men attempting to strike one another, forcing arena security to intervene as the scene threatened to spiral out of control.

This incident is not the only high-stakes drama currently gripping the fighting world, as Israel Adesanya faces Joe Pyfer in a highly anticipated upcoming UFC headliner. For Real American Freestyle (RAF), the St. Louis event joins a growing list of chaotic post-match incidents that have recently plagued the promotion’s high-profile crossover matches.

Chimaev secures rapid pinfall before tension boils over

Khamzat Chimaev entered the RAF 10 main event looking to regain momentum following a loss to Sean Strickland in May 2026. He wasted no time demonstrating the wrestling prowess that made him a star in the UFC, executing an aggressive takedown of Dillon Danis within the first minute.

Chimaev quickly moved to roll Danis onto his back, securing the pinfall victory at the 0:44 mark of Round 1.

While the wrestling portion of the evening was brief, the aftermath was prolonged and volatile. After the pinfall was called, the refusal of Dillon Danis to immediately let go of Chimaev’s leg led to the subsequent kick and wider brawl.

Security at the Saint Louis University venue had to tackle چندین individuals to prevent the skirmish from spreading, a scene reminiscent of recent events where Makhachev targets two-division glory amid a heightened atmosphere in mixed martial arts.

Pre-match threats and the “street fight” challenge

The roots of the brawl trace back to the official face-off on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Chimaev and Danis were involved in a heated confrontation in St. Louis where Chimaev suggested a “street fight” and Danis accepted. During the exchange, Danis mocked Chimaev’s size, stating, “I thought you would be bigger,” to which the Chechen fighter replied, “Big enough for you.”

The tension was exacerbated by insults regarding Chimaev’s heritage and his tendency to travel with a large entourage. When Danis referenced “Dagestani fighters,” Chimaev clarified his identity, stating, “I’m Chechen.” This verbal warfare set a dangerous precedent for Saturday’s match. It follows a pattern of unsanctioned brawls in RAF, including the February 2026 incident between Arman Tsarukyan and Georgio Poullas at RAF 6.

Broadcast captures security struggle at Chaifetz Arena

The event aired live on Fox Nation with a commentary booth featuring notable names like Ben Askren, Kurt Angle, and Chael Sonnen. While the undercard featured legitimate athletic displays, such as Aaron Pico’s second-round technical fall victory over Lance Palmer, the main event fallout overshadowed these performances. Commentators found themselves describing a riot as security wrestled Chimaev away from a persistent Danis.

The night also included Austin DeSanto’s 2-1 decision win over Reineri Andreu for the Bantamweight Championship and Lucía Yépez securing an interim strawweight title. However, the recurring lack of discipline in RAF main events has become a focal point for critics.

As the promotion continues its 2026 season, officials have yet to announce if fines or suspensions will be handed down to Chimaev or Danis for their roles in the St. Louis brawl.
