Florentino Pérez targets Michael Olise with €150 million bid on June 9

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has sparked a major transfer standoff after announcing his intention to submit a record-breaking bid of at least €150 million (£129.8m) for Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise.

Speaking on the Spanish program “Horizonte” on the channel CUATRO, the 79-year-old executive revealed that he plans to present this historic offer to a Champions League club on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, on the condition that he is re-elected this coming Sunday.

While Pérez initially tried to shield the target’s identity by claiming the player did not feature in the Premier League, reports from AS in Madrid and The Telegraph in London have firmly identified Olise as the subject of the pursuit.

The proposed fee would eclipse any previous expenditure by the Spanish giants, including the €103 million spent on former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham in 2024. Pérez is currently navigating a high-pressure presidential election against Enrique Riquelme, who has claimed to have a pre-agreement for Erling Haaland.

Pérez dismissed Riquelme’s claims as a “bluff,” countered by his own formal commitment to bid for the Frenchman. This transfer saga emerges as Real Madrid looks to rebuild following a trophy-less season, a situation that often mirrors the pressure seen when com/salah-future-liverpool-transfer-options-2026″>Salah faces career defining choice as elite squads look to refresh their attacking options.

Bayern Munich remain calm despite Real Madrid interest

Despite the grand nature of Pérez’s public statements, the hierarchy at Bayern Munich appears entirely unfazed by the noise coming from Spain. Sporting director Max Eberl recently clarified that Olise remains under contract with the German champions until 2029 and, crucially, his deal contains no release clause.

In Munich, the stance is one of total relaxation, with the club under no financial or contractual obligation to negotiate for their star playmaker. They are determined to keep their best assets, much like how others reshape defense with massive investment rather than selling their core talent.

Bayern’s internal confidence is backed by strong rhetoric from the club’s leadership over the preceding months. Honorary President Uli Hoeneß reportedly stated in March that even a bid of €200 million would not be sufficient to part with Olise.

Similarly, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge indicated in April that “no price tag” would make the club flinch regarding the 24-year-old. For Bayern, maintaining their world-class squad is a matter of prestige as they look to build upon their current position at the top of the Bundesliga standings under manager Vincent Kompany.

The technical profile and market value of Michael Olise

Michael Olise has seen his market valuation rise to €150 million, reflecting his status as one of Europe’s most effective right wingers. Across his professional career, he has recorded 42 goals and 54 assists in 107 matches in all competitions.

These career statistics have caught the eye of Pérez, who reportedly became enamored with the player’s quality during Bayern’s Champions League fixtures against Real Madrid this season. The president’s desire to finalize such a deal highlights the current premium on elite creative talent in the European game.

The timing of Pérez’s announcement is viewed by many as a calculated political maneuver in the lead-up to the June 7 election. Iván Fuente, a market manager for Transfermarkt in Spain, noted that Pérez is careful with his wording, promising a formal offer rather than a guaranteed signing.

This allows the president to demonstrate his ambition to the voting members while shifting the burden of a potential failure onto Bayern’s refusal to sell. If the €150 million offer is indeed presented on June 9, it will serve as a definitive litmus test of Bayern’s resolve to keep the Bundesliga’s most sought-after playmaker.
