Nathan Rivera will face Tray Martin in a featherweight co-main event at BKFC Fight Night Nashville on Friday, June 19, 2026. The 5-0 contender confirmed the matchup for the promotion’s expansion into Tennessee, viewing the bout as a critical step in his push for championship gold.

Rivera, who holds a perfect record in the squared circle, aims to use the platform at The Pinnacle to showcase skills like clinch work and inside fighting.

The event, officially titled “BKFC Fight Night Nashville: Soto vs. De Leon,” sees Rivera returning to a familiar role of helping the promotion establish itself in new territories. Rivera has previously opened Virginia, Atlanta, and Michigan for the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC).

He expressed excitement about being selected for the Nashville debut, noting the responsibility to deliver “fireworks” for a fresh fan base in a new state.

Rivera enters the bout following a significant victory over Tommy Strydom, a former 145-pound title challenger. That win helped solidify his position in co-main events, a slot he prefers because it allows him to support teammates and greet fans after his own work is done.

While his path to a title shot is clear, the journey to secure this specific opponent involved navigating several declined contracts from higher-ranked fighters.

Featherweight rankings and the push for gold

Nathan Rivera remains focused on the summit of the featherweight division, where he currently trails the 6-0 Edgard Plazaola. Rivera admitted that his team initially sought a fight with Plazaola, who is the number one contender. However, Plazaola declined the “risky” opportunity, likely preferring to protect his ranking while waiting for a title shot.

This left Rivera to search for an opponent willing to test his undefeated streak.

The search resulted in four or five failed contracts before Tray Martin accepted the fight. Although Martin is only 1-0 in BKFC, he brings the experience of 17 professional fights from outside the promotion. Rivera highlighted that Martin is “current, young, and hungry,” having recently secured a second-round TKO in a boxing match roughly three weeks prior to late May 2026.

The featherweight landscape is becoming increasingly competitive as the promotion grows. Much like how Makhachev targets two-division glory in other combat sports, Rivera is intent on making his mark at 145 pounds. He believes a victory over Martin could potentially move him into the number one contender spot, depending on how the ranking committee views his win over Strydom compared to Plazaola’s resume.

Nashville fight night logistics and tactical clash

The matchup presents a significant physical contrast in the co-main event slot. Nathan Rivera stands 5’11” with a 74-inch reach, while Tray Martin is 5’5″ with a 67-inch reach. Rivera expects a high-energy “clash of styles,” predicting that Martin will attempt to force the fight inside.

“I’m going to try to keep him on the outside, he’s going to try to bring it to the inside,” Rivera said, anticipating “head-on collisions” for the spectators.

The Pinnacle, located at 910 Exchange Lane, Nashville, will open its doors at 7:00 PM CT, with the main card beginning at 8:00 PM CT. The evening is headlined by a lightweight battle between Tony ‘Loco’ Soto and JC ‘Corazon’ Deleon. Ticket prices for the event start at $68.43, with some listings on secondary markets appearing higher as the date approaches.

BKFC Nashville confirmed main card

  • Main Event: Tony Soto vs. JC Deleon (Lightweight)
  • Co-Main Event: Nathan Rivera vs. Tray Martin (Featherweight)
  • Heavyweight: Prince McLean vs. Jeramy Karshner
  • Light Heavyweight: Ravon Baxter vs. Junior Hicks
  • Heavyweight: Jabori Murphy vs. Damien Black
  • Welterweight: Joshua Whiteside vs. Caleb Harvey
  • Light Heavyweight: Zach Russ vs. Yancarlos Beltran
  • Bantamweight: Devon Hostler vs. Joby Steffensmeier

For Rivera, the stakes of the fight night extend to his personal life and long-term career goals. He currently balances his training camps with a 40-hour work week, a situation he hopes to change by winning a world title. Just as com/latest-sport-news-updates-miami-open-aintree-world-cup/”>Aintree targets lead latest news in the equestrian world, Rivera’s focus is entirely on his next target: the gold belt and the stability of being a full-time fighter.

The push for gold is not just about professional pride but about the future of his family. Rivera has expressed a desire to start a family soon and views the championship as the key to spending more time at home. Every appearance in the squared circle, including this upcoming Nashville bout, serves as a vital chapter in that journey toward professional and personal fulfillment.
