Boxer Zach Abel and his brother were arrested as a wild brawl broke out at Rough N’ Rowdy 25.
Abel was taking on rival Mikey Bets in a low-standard main event on the night, with the former seen by those present to have done enough to have his hand raised.
The fighters had already brawled at a wild and fiery weigh-in the day before the event, and tensions showed within the fighters and their teams on fight night.
As the pair were brought into the centre of the ring with the decision announced, Bets was victorious on hugely controversial scorecards which sparked fury among Team Abel.
A member of his rival’s team crawled into the ring and as he rose, Abel chose his moment and crashed a right hand sucker punch on to the jaw of the team member.
Chaos broke out as a mass brawl erupted with the boxer taken away by law enforcement officers who arrived on the scene.
He was punched several times by a member of his rival’s team before his own entourage stepped in and became embroiled in a physical fist-fight.
His brother Spencer Abel failed to throw a punch, but was then speared to the ground by onrushing police with ten officials putting him in handcuffs.
The police held him down and arrested him, before he too was dragged out of the ring and taken into custody.
It was a simply incredible turn of events, like something rarely seen in combat sports before.
After the complete circus in the ring, fans were left stunned and reacted on social media, with one writing: “Might have some of the best knockouts and wildest endings I’ve ever seen!”
One said: “Justice for Abel. Horrible decision. @RealMikeyBets did not win that fight.”
Another astonishingly claimed: “Just a local bar fight. Good on good. No need for the cops to get involved.”
A fan was furious, writing: “What a bunch of absolute f*****g losers.”
One commented: “Based on the numbers on this tweet I’m guessing RNR is over.”
Another added: “What on earth? The most chaos I’ve ever seen.”
While another one concluded: “LOL. Why are the law enforcement acting like he assassinated someone?
It is unclear what happens next but it is unlikely that Abel will fight again any time soon, given his actions.
It has been a chaotic week in combat sports, with a wild brawl breaking out in the audience of Vergil Ortiz vs Serhii Bohachuk on the same weekend.
