Jake Paul has mocked Conor McGregor over his public dispute with Dana White over his UFC comeback date.
The UFC superstar looked set to finally return for the first time since 2021 this year in a comeback clash against Michael Chandler, but it was postponed after he broke his toe.
UFC president White announced at a media day for their latest pay-per-view event, that McGregor is now not expected to return until the new year in a significant blow.
McGregor took to social media to disagree with the American’s claim, pleading for an alternative fight date in December.
YouTube boxer Paul has now responded to his plea, writing on Twitter: “Conor is so down he’s asking fans to help him get his fight booked.
“Not sure what’s sadder, his downfall or that the biggest star in UFC history is controlled by Dana White like an employee & can’t fight when he wants.”
He later added: “Dana come on, December pretty please. I’m going to train in the mountains hahahaha.”
Paul then made an unsubstantiated claim about his rival using steroids, concluding: “I would destroy juiced up 200 lb Conor in boxing or MMA. We do one of those first and then we can do the bare knuckle thing.”
It is certainly not the first time Paul has mocked McGregor, with the American making an enemy of the Irish superstar throughout his short boxing career.
Paul was always keen to fight McGregor, but it now appears the weight disparity is too vast for a showdown to be agreed.
It has not all been one way recently however, with ‘The Notorious’ having been at the centre of a row with Paul after his KO win over Mike Perry.
He ‘fired’ Perry from bare-knuckle boxing label BKFC, which he now part owns, and mocked Paul despite his win.
But focus will now switch back on to his own career for the Irishman, who hasn’t stepped in the octagon since breaking his leg in defeat to Dustin Poirier three years ago.
A comeback fight with Chandler was pencilled in for July after the pair went head-to-head in the latest series of The Ultimate Fighter.
But McGregor’s future is now up in the air, with yet another delay clearly on the mind of the UFC matchmaker White.
Chandler himself has spoken with frustration about the uncertainty, but agrees with McGregor’s planned outing in December.
He said: “December’s got me and Conor written all over it. That’s when we should fight.
“It’s enough time for him to have healed up and get back into a training camp. December makes a lot of sense.
“People love the violence that I bring to the Octagon and obviously Conor McGregor is the biggest name in combat sports, so this fight makes a ton of sense. It’s a great match-up.
“There’s a little bit of gamesmanship slash bad blood, but it’s overall respectful, and if Conor and I do fight, I will dispatch him, and finally put an exclamation mark on this big saga that is Chandler versus Conor.
“But we are fighting in the UFC, the biggest combat sports organization in the world by far, and they have a ton of moving parts.
“I definitely want to fight by the end of the year, that would be ideal. That’s always the hope. But, man, there’s a lot of options out there.”
