MASON, Ohio — The Cincinnati Open, formerly called the Western & Southern Open, is celebrating its 125th anniversary and 45th year in Mason, Ohio as the tournament goes full throttle into the first round on Tuesday.
Tuesday features a calendar-stuffing 32 matches from the opening round of ATP and WTA main draw play after qualifying contests wrapped up Monday.
Tuesday begins with five main draw singles matches and the day session from a WTA standpoint is highlighted by a Center Court match between World No. 20 Marta Kostyuk, of Ukraine, against World No. 35 Elise Mertens (Belgium), who made a Cincinnati Open semifinal singles run in 2020. World No. 12 Daria Kasatkina will face fellow Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova on Court 10.
On the ATP side, World No. 14 Ben Shelton faces fellow American Reilly Opelka. He’s followed on Center Court in the night session by World No. 12 Taylor Fritz against another American wild card, Brandon Nakashima.
In total, there are 116 Cincinnati Open participants who competed in the Paris Olympics, including 20 total medal winners and three Opening Ceremony flag bearers.
How to watch the Cincinnati Open
Gates at the Lindner Family Tennis Center open at 9:30 a.m. for Tuesday’s day session with the first matches scheduled for 11 a.m. Gates open at 5 p.m. for the night session and matches will begin at 7 p.m.
Matches can be watched live on the Tennis Channel while select matches throughout the tournament will be available to watch live on Amazon Prime, Roku, Samsung+, YouTube TV and Hulu+Live.
