UFC officials have finalised a star-studded broadcast team for the historic UFC Freedom 250 event, which is scheduled for Sunday, June 14, 2026. The commentary line-up features four Hall of Famers who will call the action from the South Lawn of the White House in Washington, D.C.
This milestone card, coinciding with Flag Day and President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday, marks the first time a professional sporting event will be hosted at the presidential residence.
The cageside commentary team will include longtime play-by-play announcer Jon Anik and podcaster Joe Rogan. They will be joined by UFC Hall of Famer and former two-division champion Daniel Cormier to call the seven scheduled bouts. Preliminary fights are set to begin at 4:00 PM ET, with the main card Following at 8:00 PM ET.
This high-profile team is tasked with narrating an evening that Dana White expects to draw massive global attention.
Broadcast veteran Brendan Fitzgerald will serve as the host for the event and the post-fight show from the analyst desk. He is supported by three additional UFC Hall of Famers: former middleweight champions Michael Bisping and Chris Weidman, along with former bantamweight king Dominick Cruz.
Megan Olivi will provide live updates and backstage interviews, while Din Thomas joins the crew as a coach-analyst. Bruce Buffer is confirmed as the in-Octagon announcer.
Broadcast legends to anchor historic White House fight card
The inclusion of four Hall of Famers—Daniel Cormier, Michael Bisping, Chris Weidman, and Dominick Cruz—highlights the significance the promotion is placing on this domestic event. These decorated champions will provide technical analysis for a card that serves as a centerpiece for the America250 celebration.
The technical depth of this panel mirrors the high-stakes analysis often seen when Makhachev targets two-division glory in his own championship pursuits.
For U.S. residents, the entire event will stream live and on demand exclusively on Paramount+. While U.S. subscribers will not face an additional pay-per-view fee beyond their standard subscription, the event will still air via the traditional pay-per-view model for international audiences. This dual-track distribution strategy ensures the promotion maintains its global reach while leveraging its domestic streaming partnership.
Outside the White House perimeter, roughly 85,000 fans are expected to gather at The Ellipse for a dedicated watch party. Laura Sanko will serve as the MC for fight week events held there as part of the UFC Freedom 250 Fan Fest.
This massive public gathering will complement the 4,000 invited guests seated on the South Lawn, a quarter of whom will be active military members in dress uniforms.
Championship stakes and logistical challenges on the South Lawn
The main event features a lightweight title unification bout between reigning champion Ilia Topuria and interim title holder Justin Gaethje. This clash will determine the undisputed king of the 155-pound division. Such legacy-defining moments are a staple of the sport, much like the historic discussions regarding how Rousey vs Carano shaped the modern UFC era during its first major growth spurt.
In the co-main event, Alex Pereira and Ciryl Gane will compete for the interim heavyweight championship. The production will use a specialized arena structure nicknamed “the Claw” to house the Octagon on the lawn. Because the event is outdoors, the crew will receive weather notifications from the military every hour to monitor for lightning, which is the only factor that would cause a postponement.
The confirmed seven-fight line-up for UFC Freedom 250 includes:
- Main Event: Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje (Lightweight Title Unification)
- Co-Main Event: Alex Pereira vs. Ciryl Gane (Interim Heavyweight Championship)
- Bantamweight: Sean O’Malley vs. Aiemann Zahabi
- Heavyweight: Josh Hokit vs. Derrick Lewis
- Lightweight: Mauricio Ruffy vs. Michael Chandler
- Middleweight: Bo Nickal vs. Kyle Daukaus
- Featherweight: Diego Lopes vs. Steve Garcia
UFC White House marks a first for professional sports
This event is the first of its kind, fulfilling a plan UFC CEO Dana White said was finalised in August 2025. Weigh-ins for the fighters are expected to take place at the Lincoln Memorial, adding to the patriotic theme of the weekend. The promotion has only held one other outdoor event in its history, which took place at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi.
The broadcast team will have to manage unique environmental factors, including the potential for high humidity that Joe Rogan previously cited as a concern. However, with the “A-team” in place, the promotion is moving forward with its most ambitious production to date. The combination of Hall of Fame voices and a historic venue sets the stage for a unique chapter in mixed martial arts history.
