While Kyle Busch Motorsports doesn’t operate any NASCAR teams anymore, that doesn’t mean they do not exist. KBM is still very much a business and recently they were awarded $105,000 in a judgment regarding their lawsuit against Rev Racing.
Kyle Busch Motorsports sued Rev Racing for unpaid settlements. KBM was the organization that prepped Rev Racing’s Truck Series vehicles. The partnership ended when KBM sold shop at the end of last season.
According to Collin Huguley of Charlotte Business Journal, KBM and Rev Racing came to a settlement agreement to put the ongoing lawsuit to bed. That decision was a $350,000 settlement. The only issue, Rev Racing did not pay $75,000 of that balance.
After going to the courts for a decision, it was found that Kyle Busch Motorsports was entitled to a total settlement of $380,000. This was due to the fact that the settlement of the original $350K was not paid on time, triggering a part of the deal that added another $30,000 on to the total.
So, after coming to a judgment, the courts decided that KBM was owed the remaining $75,000, plus the $30,000 to push the remaining payment out to $105,000.
This has been a back-and-forth affair. The first lawsuit, which was filed back in February, was for a breach of contract. Clearly, it was dragged out much longer than the parties wanted it to be.
Rev Racing is the performance wing of NASCAR’s Drive for Diversity efforts. Nick Sanchez has been in the No. 2 Chevy Silverado since 2023. This season, Sanchez has two wins and is poised to have a great postseason.
As for Kyle Busch Motorsports, that settlement money will go to Brexton Busch. Brexton is the only KBM driver left, and his dirt racing career could use the funds.
Kyle Busch needs a win
Perhaps the only victory that Kyle Busch is going to get this year is the lawsuit with Rev Racing. That is unfortunate. Rowdy is a two-time NASCAR champion. He has more national series wins than any other driver in the history of the sport.
This season with Richard Childress Racing has been nothing short of a disaster. Truly, there have been head-scratching moments, mechanical failures, plain bad luck, pit crew issues, and more.
Dating back to Gateway, Busch has five DNFs and only one top-10. That is over the course of eight races. There is still hope for the No. 8 team. All it takes is one good day and Busch can get his car to Victory Lane.
The struggles have piled up for Kyle Busch and his team. At least he isn’t doing so poorly off the track.
