The Cincinnati Open, the world-renowned tennis event that has become a mainstay of Mason, kicked off in full swing Sunday.
The tournament, formerly called the Western & Southern Open, returned to Mason Aug. 11-19 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center, where it has been held since 1979. It’s heralded as the world’s longest-tenured tennis tournament played in its city of origin.
The 2024 Cincinnati Open’s initial entrants included all male and female players in the Top 40 world rankings, led by WTA No. 1 Iga Swiatek and ATP No. 1 Jannik Sinner. Seven past tournament champions, including 2023 winner Coco Gauff, will also headline this year’s event.
However, reigning men’s champion, Novak Djokovic, has withdrawn, the tournament announced Thursday, Aug. 8, after recently defeating Carlos Alcaraz to win his first Olympic Gold Medal
Full series and multiday packages to the tournament are sold out, but single session tickets starting around $70 are still available for purchase at cincinnatiopen.com/tickets/.

Here’s the schedule for Monday, Aug. 12
Monday features both a day session and a night session. In the morning, gates at Lindner Family Tennis Center open at 9:30 a.m. with the first qualifying matches beginning at 11 a.m.
For the second session at night, gates open at 5 p.m. with the first round matches beginning at 6 p.m.
Day session tickets are not accepted after 5 p.m. and night session tickets are not accepted before 5 p.m.
