Now that the MLB is in the second half of the year, it’s time to look at the updated Rookie of the Year odds.
Paul Skenes has surged to the top of the board at -5000. His odds moved from -1000 over the past two weeks. Now, they’re the lowest they have been all season.
Before his debut, Skenes’ NL ROY odds sat at +2500. His incredible season earned him a spot on this year’s All-Star Game roster.
Also, since being called up on May 11, the dynamic right-hander has started 14 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates. The No. 1 pick of the 2023 MLB draft has shined with a 6-1 record, 1.99 ERA and 107 strikeouts.

Third on the board at +2000 is former favorite Shota Imanaga.
The Chicago rookie was on fire at the beginning of the year. He gave up five runs in his first nine career starts and was the favorite for NL ROY for more than a month.
But those odds have changed significantly, moving to +2000 from -120, which is where they were at the beginning of July.
Let’s take a look at the ROY betting board in the National League at DraftKings Sportsbook as of August 7.
2024 NL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR ODDS:
Paul Skenes, Pittsburgh Pirates: -5000 (bet $10 to win $10.20 total)
Jackson Merrill, San Diego Padres: +1500 (bet $10 to win $160 total)
Shota Imanaga, Chicago Cubs: +2000 (bet $10 to win $210 total)
Michael Busch, Chicago Cubs: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total)
Masyn Winn, St. Louis Cardinals: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total)
Tyler Fitzgerald, San Francisco Giants: +5000 (bet $10 to win $510 total)
Now, let’s take a look at the ROY odds in the AL as of August 7.
2024 AL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR ODDS:
Colton Cowser, Baltimore Orioles: -140 (bet $10 to win $17.14 total)
Luis Gil, New York Yankees: +250 (bet $10 to win $35 total)
Austin Wells, New York Yankees: +750 (bet $10 to win $85 total)
Wilyer Abreu, Boston Red Sox: +1100 (bet $10 to win $120 total)
Wyatt Langford, Texas Rangers: +1400 (bet $10 to win $150 total)
Ceddanne Rafaela, Boston Red Sox: +1600 (bet $10 to win $170 total)
Rising to the very top of the AL board at -140 is Colton Cowser for Baltimore.
Mid-July, his odds to win the award were +550.
FOX Sports MLB writer Rowan Kavnar praised Cowser in his most recent MLB rookie power rankings.
“Cowser is pacing the rookie field with 16 home runs, and as powerful as he is at the plate, I’m not sure he gets enough credit for how sensational he has been defensively. By outs above average, he has been one of the best outfielders in baseball.”
Luis Gil is second on the board at +250. As a result of his June slump, his odds to win the AL ROY lengthened to +255 from -115 since the middle of July.
But Kavnar speculated that Gil may be on the other side of his fatigue.
“Gil got back on track last month, and his four-seamer actually gained velocity in the process (though it was his slider and change-up guiding his success). He allowed no more than five hits in any of his five July starts, and while free passes remain an issue, his ability to miss bats tends to get him out of trouble.
“Gil leads all rookies in both strikeouts and walks.”
