It’s draft season for one of the biggest national pastimes: fantasy football. In 2022, 29.2 million people in the U.S. played fantasy football, and the fantasy sports business has grown to an $11 billion industry.
Millions of people will be drafting their squads looking for the best values and sleeper picks to win leagues this season. Strategy is important – but so is picking the right name for your fantasy team.
Trouble in Dallas:CeeDee Lamb contract standoff only increases pressure on Cowboys
There are plenty of classics to use this season, such as Dude, Where’s My Carr? (If you draft New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr), Geno 911! (Geno Smith), Baby Got Dak (Dak Prescott), and Mr. Rodgers Neighborhood (Aaron Rodgers). If you’re looking for some newer names, here are 10 of the best fantasy football team names for 2024:
Kyler, The Creator
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray missed a combined 15 games the last two seasons due to a torn ACL but ended last season well. He threw seven touchdowns to just one interception over the final three games and the Cardinals took top wide receiver prospect Marvin Harrison Jr. in the 2024 NFL Draft. Add in a nod to one of the more influential rappers of the last 15 years and you have a strong fantasy team name for 2024.

Love Thy Nabers
The New York Giants’ offense got a big boost in the 2024 NFL Draft, starting with No. 6 overall pick Malik Nabers. He’s automatically the Giants’ top weapon in the passing game and worth a roster spot for his rookie season. There’s plenty of neighborly team names you can use with Nabers, including this one.
Snacks, songs, impressions:19 most memorable ‘Hard Knocks’ moments from HBO’s NFL training camp docuseries
Jahmyr Comes the Sun
Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs scored six touchdowns in the final five games of his rookie season in 2023. A second year on a team that could have one of the top offenses in the NFL makes him a promising pick early on in fantasy drafts. A potential breakout season paired with one of The Beatles’ most popular songs makes for a winning combination.
Red Solo Kupp
Cooper Kupp has missed 13 games since his All-Pro season for the Los Angeles Rams in 2021. But he’s active in training camp and looks healthy so far. He could benefit from Puka Nacua’s emergence last season to have another good year. Combine that promise with a reference to the red solo cup, an integral part of every party – so iconic there’s a Toby Keith song for it – and you’ve got another winner this season.
The Tortured Pitts Department
Taylor Swift became a weekly part of NFL coverage due to her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. This is a way to work in a reference to Swift’s latest album and Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts, a player whose often touted as ready to break out only to leave fantasy owners let down. Some could even call those owners tortured.
For Whom the Dell Tolls
After an active offseason featuring multiple trades, the Houston Texans are an exciting, young team in the AFC this season. Wide receiver Tank Dell is part of that core and could have a strong sophomore season in the slot thanks to Stefon Diggs’ arrival. That’s worthy of a name invoking both Ernest Hemingway… and Metallica.

Bed, Bath, and Bijan
Falcons second-year running back Bijan Robinson is a great player for a top fantasy football team name. Bijan Mustard (or Honey Bijan Mustard for those who prefer) was an instant classic last season. But this name offers a bit of nostalgia for millions of Americans who shopped at the iconic retail chain store that closed down in July 2023.
Tua for the Money
The Miami Dolphins’ offense has been a fantasy football powerhouse since Mike McDaniel took the reigns starting in 2022. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa finished top 10 among fantasy quarterbacks last season, per Fantasypros. A wide receiver group of Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and Odell Beckham Jr. should make for another standout season. Prior to training camp, the Dolphins made him the third-highest paid player in the NFL, making this team name even more apt.
2 Legette 2 Quit
The Carolina Panthers aggressively upgraded the offense ahead of No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young’s second season at quarterback. That included trades and the draft in which they moved into the first round to select South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette. A potential standout weapon for Young fits perfectly with a team name referring to one of MC Hammer’s most popular songs.

Rome Wasn’t Built in Odunze
Chicago bolstered the offense around No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams with its second pick of the first round by selecting wide receiver Rome Odunze. He’s both a potential fantasy sleeper and a great source for fantasy football team names. This made the list because it incorporates both his first and last name but you could also choose:
- When in Rome
- Rome Sweet Rome
- Rome Alone
- All Roads Lead to Rome
